Here is a photo location on the Amalfi Coast you may not know
Villa Rufolo in Ravello
Villa Rufolo is a must for anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast. It is a place that enchanted artists such as Wagner and Fellini. It stands in the heart of Ravello, a location of great cultural standing and home to the Ravello Festival, which draws the most famous musicians to town.

A 13th-century villa
It has been home to the most powerful families, starting with the Rufolo family, who had it built to show off the power and wealth their family had attained. Its architecture is a blend of styles including Arab, Sicilian, Norman and 19th-century. This mix of styles is living proof of the strong cultural exchanges the Amalfi Coast enjoyed with the rest of the world thanks to the Maritime Republic of Amalfi.
Something you don’t know about Villa Rufolo
The Villa welcomes you with its Entrance Tower, which leads into the Moorish Cloister, laid out on three sides in a U shape. Many of the decorations that once embellished the architecture have been lost. On the central side thirty-six paired columns remain, while on the side to the right of the entrance there are two arches with six paired columns. On the lower level, each side features three pointed arches topped by a loggia of paired columns decorated with interlacing and leaf knots. The upper level, with three oculi on each side, is decorated with a frieze of paired twisted terracotta columns. The fourth side of the cloister is missing entirely.

Crossing the garden where Wagner composed “Parsifal” you reach the Belvedere, a splendid terrace overlooking the Gulf of Salerno. This is where the Wagner concerts are held: an important event that combines the magic of music with the charm of enchanting natural surroundings.
