Engagement session: why have a pre-wedding shoot

Have you ever had an engagement session?

Why have a pre-wedding shoot?

Quite simply: imagine you have never been photographed by a professional. Being in front of a lens, especially with a stranger behind it, isn't easy, and learning all this on your wedding day isn't exactly ideal. So why have an engagement session? This photo session lets you build a rapport with your photographer. That is essential for beautiful photos and for having fun. In portrait and couple photography, a relationship forms between people that underpins the whole shoot; without any connection between photographer and subjects, your photos would not only leave you with a bad memory but would also be a very poor photographic result. When the subjects aren't at ease, the photos say it clearly; in fact, they show it without a word being spoken.

What matters more, the camera or the photographer?

People often think that the only difference between a professional and an amateur photographer is the equipment. Nothing could be further from the truth: the one who actually selects and slices time, choosing the magic moment to press the shutter, is the photographer. Years of art studies, sensitivity and a keen eye are instinctive in a professional photographer, who not only seizes the moment but draws on all their aesthetic sense and technical knowledge.

And how do we have fun?

The simplest way is to plan the location with your photographer, who will take care of everything else. They will suggest the best time to shoot and the most interesting corners of the location, and will set up spontaneous situations. Playing with your partner is also part of the session. So give free rein to your personality and your own way of being joyful. To show yourselves as you are, you need to feel comfortable with the photographer, who is always happy to meet new people, make decisions together and help couples have fun during the shoot.

The location?

The choice is usually up to the couple, and a place with special meaning is the best option. But if you are planning a destination wedding, the photographer will suggest the right places for your session, always based on your tastes.
